The Bezel-less Nokia 8 is here.

Nokia 8

Nokia 8 was spotted on JD.com with a listing of about INR 31,000 (CNY 3,188) , which was shown to be featuring a near bezel-less display , with variations in Ceramic and Black Colour.

The device is expected to be launched with a Snapdragon 835 Soc , 4GB/ 6 GB Ram variants and internal Storage of 64/128 GB. The ultra-slim-bezel display seen in the listed photos of the Nokia 8 is expected to be a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED panel with screen resolution of 1440x2560 pixels. The large rear camera module is expected to house a 24-megapixel sensor with Optical Image Stabilisation, and while isolated leaks have pointed at HMD Global using Carl Zeiss optics reminiscent of Nokia's heyday, there is no confirmation on it as yet. We expect at least 4GB of RAM, and 64GB/128GB of internal storage. Other specifications include a 12MP front camera, expandable storage by up to 256GB and Android Nougat.

Nokia is expected to Announce the device on MWC this year on February 26 , 9PM IST at it's keynote.

Although this would not be nokia's 1st android device , infact this would be it's 4th device .

The first being the Infamous Nokia X , then the successful devices such as Nokia C tablet and the recent Nokia 6.

If the specs are the same as mentioned above and nokia offers a nice Package and customer Support then there's no doubt in the comeback of the once King.

Alexa is Everywhere buddy!

Last year, Amazon's virtual assistant Alexa was everywhere at CES, proving to be one of the show's most popular bandwagons. Now, after a highly successful year that saw Amazon sell millions of Echo and Echo Dot smart speakers, more people are chatting up Alexa than ever before -- and the rest of the tech world wants in.

That means that it'll likely be another busy CES for the cloud-connected, voice-activated assistant, maybe even more so than last year. The headlines are already starting to pile up, so here's a running tally of all of her new partners and tricks.lgsmartinstaviewphotosifa-3.jpg

  • Let's start with the LG Smart InstaView Refrigerator. Aside from its 29" translucent touchscreen and interior fridge cams, it also boasts full Alexa functionality. It's literally one of the biggest Alexa products of CES.
  • Of course, Ford is a pretty big name, too, and its big announcement this week was the addition of in-vehicle Alexa controls for cars running the Sync 3 voice platform.
  • Nightingale, a smart sleep-aid system that found success on Kickstarter, announced that it'll work with Alexa once it starts shipping out in February. You'll be able to tell her to launch your goodnight scene, or to adjust the brightness of the built-in nightlight.

ge-alexa-lamp.jpg
The eye-catching C by GE Lamp with Alexa is basically an Amazon Echo with a halo-like light fixture growing out of its head. We first heard about it at the end of last year, and we got our first look at it in Las Vegas -- although, disappointingly, all we got to see was a non-functional 3D-printed prototype. Aside from asking Alexa to dim the light up and down, you'll be able to ask other Alexa commands and set the light to wake you up in the morning. At least, you will when it's up and running.
  • The crowdfunded smart gesture control device Bixi is back with a second-gen controller, and one of the main new features is an integration with Alexa that adds in optional voice controls. Way to double down on hands free interaction with in-home tech.
  • The Omaker Wow Speaker takes advantage of the fact that Amazon will happily allow third party products to code Alexa directly into their devices. It's one of the latest examples of an Alexa-enabled speaker not made by Amazon.
Same goes for the Lenovo Smart Assistant Speaker, which comes in multiple colors and packs Alexa's full intelligence. Starting price: $129 -- or about $50 less than the Echo.
  • The Onkyo VC-FLX1 is yet another third-party, Echo-esque device with built-in Alexa controls debuting at CES this week. And, unlike those others, it also includes a built-in security camera.
  • Hungry? Alexa can now order specific menu items from businesses that work with Amazon Restaurants in over 20 cities. You have to be an Amazon Prime subscriber, though.
  • The Samsung Powerbot VR7000 is the Korean conglomerate's latest rival for the Roomba, and starting this year, you'll be able to begin a cleaning cycle by asking Alexa. That makes it the second robot vacuum that Alexa can control -- Neato got there first in late 2016.
  • On the entertainment front, Dish is teaching Alexa to channel surf with new controls for Hopper DVR boxes. You'll be able to say things like "Alexa, turn on CNN," "Alexa, play Top Chef" or even, "Alexa, find me a movie with Steve Buscemi in it."

  • The Ubtech Robotics Lynx is a lovable robot that gives Alexa a body, arms, legs, and a face. It can do all sorts of things that a typical smart speaker can't do. We're calling it "Alexa's best disguise yet."
  • The Hubble Hugo is another robotic representation of Alexa -- and it uses cameras to detect emotions. The main function: identifying when your baby is crying and acting accordingly.
  • Speaking of entertainment, new televisions from Seiki, Westinghouse and Element will be the first to offer native support for Alexa-powered voice remote searches.
  • Sensory, the developer behind the always-listening tech in devices such as Samsung's Galaxy phones, is bringing a feature called "VoiceGenie" to Bluetooth headphones that'll let you add the AI assistant of choice -- Alexa included -- right into your ear.

  • The WeMo Mini, Belkin's newest smart plug, will follow suit with its predecessors and sync up with Alexa, letting you tell her to turn whatever's plugged into it on or off. It doesn't do anything that the first-gen WeMo Switches won't -- it's just the same product in a much smaller package that won't block adjacent outlets.
  • Perhaps more interestingly, the long-awaited WeMo Dimmer Switch is heading to retail shelves this year. Instead of just turning things on and off, it'll let Alexa dim your lights up and down, too. It's also promising to fix flickering bulbs by letting you adjust the switch's dimmable range, and it'll let you select how bright the lights should be when they come on at different times of day.
  • iDevices has another Alexa-compatible smart switch that's new this year. Its sole purpose: turning other iDevices switches on and off.
  • First Alert has a sensor that'll track temperature and humidity conditions in your child's bedroom, along with serving as a carbon monoxide detector. Now, thanks to a new integration with Alexa, you'll be able to ask her for a quick report on those environmental conditions.
Here's another new kid-friendly Alexa gadget: the Aristotle by Nabi. It's a fully functioning Alexa speaker with a second assistant named Aristotle built in as well. Aside from automatically using lullabies to ease small kids back to sleep and logging wet diapers, Aristotle claims to be especially adept at understanding kids' questions. CNET senior editor (and new father) Sean Hollister says it might be "the most exciting thing toymaker Mattel has ever produced."
  • While we're on the subject, the C-Way Meemo is another Alexa speaker designed specifically for kids. The key feature here? Improved parental controls that let you take charge over what your kids get to listen to.
  • If you're interested in Alexa-powered home security, then take a look at the new all-in-one smart security gadget from Somfy. Aside from packing a suite of sensors and an HD camera, the device will work with Alexa, among other partners.
  • ADT Pulse is another big security integration that's new for Alexa. Starting this month, you'll be able to tell Amazon's virtual assistant to arm or disarm your system, or even to lock your doors.

  • As for appliances, we learned that the Coway Airmega Smart Air Purifier will soon work with Alexa, so you'll be able to ask her about the air quality in your home. If anything's amiss, you'll be able to ask her to turn the Airmega on, or to crank it up to full blast.
  • Whirlpool announced that its entire suite of connected appliances will sync up with Alexa this year -- that'll let you say things like, "Alexa, start the washer," or "Alexa, did I leave the oven on?" It's essentially the same tricks we saw in 2016 from GE's line of Geneva-enabled smart appliances.
  • If you're using the Hydrao Smart Showerhead to cut your water consumption, you'll now be able to ask Alexa how much water you've actually saved.

Google introduces the much awaited Ad revolution

Google has introduced interactive advertisements in order to drive app installation. One of the interactive advertisements is called Trial Run Ads which allows users to try a game for a 60 seconds without installing it. They have also introduced a method of creating more engaging advertisements called Interactive Interstitials where users can touch and swipe. Google says that it found out that one of every four installed apps in phones is “never even used” and the aim of these interactive advertisements is to engage users and show off the best features of an application.
The Trial Run Ads allow users to play a game for up to 60 seconds by streaming content of the app to their phones before they download it. This lets the user try out the game and see if it is to their liking before they install it. This leads to more relevant ad clicks and app downloads as well as pre-qualified app users. In its official blog, Google showed how these advertisements would run by showing a demo advertisement of Cookie Jam.
The Interactive Interstitials are based on HTML5. This allows for a customized user experience that is tailored to each advertisement. Interactive interstitials allows advertisers to show off the best features of an app by highlighting certain features. Google says that this type of advertisements can be as big or as small depending on the needs of the advertiser. The aim of the Interactive Interstitials is to show the value that the app will have for the user before they install it. Google’s post showed how Zalora built an advertisement which allowed users to swipe and discover an exclusive offer.
The company stated that both forms of advertisements are currently in beta and are available to a limited set of advertisers. Those interested in joining the beta need to get in touch with their account managers.

An Emoji Keyboard ! - A new gift for Christmas and Diwali for the chatters

We are all aware how important emoticons are nowadays. Nobody wants to type ‘okay’ anymore, just a thumbs up emoticon will do. The process is supposed to save time, but we still have to press an extra key to open our emoji options. These troubles will however soon be in the past, because EmojiWorks has debuted its first hardware based emoji keyboard. So now, with the help of a built-in shortcut, you can immediately just type in your preferred emoji.
Emoji keyboard
Design wise it looks like an Apple keyboard with emoji symbols and each key has an emoji along with a character. Just like the shift key we use in order to type in a letter in capitals, there is an additional ’emoji’ button which you need to press in order to insert the specific emoji.
Emoji Button
EmojiWorks has been very careful so as to include all your favourite emoji, including the poop emoji. They also claim that the emoji keyboard is up to 10 times faster than a standard keyboard and is Bluetooth enabled; this feature in turn makes it compatible with Mac and iOS devices. The only con that comes with this keyboard is that it cannot be customized as it comes pre-printed with emoji on the keys along with pre-programmed emoji shortcuts. Here is a short video:

Speaking of its availability, the emoji keyboards come in three different models: the Emoji Keyboard at $79.95 (approx Rs.5,175), the Emoji Keyboard Plus at $89.95 (Rs.5,830), and the Emoji Keyboard Pro at $99.95 (Rs.6,485). The difference between these keyboards is that the number of emoji shortcuts differ, so basically, the cheapest one will have one emoji per key, the emoji plus will have a total of 94 emoji and the emoji plus will have more than 120 emoji, with three shortcuts per key.

Google launches Who's Down app - its new snapchat like social app for college

Google has launched a new app called “Who’s down”, which takes its hangouts concept to another level. Not a much higher level though, just a small step up. What we know so far about this app is that it is currently an invite-only app and is restricted to college students. It allows people who are interested in similar things to ‘group up’ and chat on the app.
image2

The app does not require you to sign up with an academic email address, however, it does ask you which college you are from before joining the wait list. Google is clearly trying to expand into the social media sphere in small ways and yet trying to make a its mark. Targeting college students specifically seems to be quite a good business strategy since most of them, especially the freshers, are hooked to their smartphones all day.
Google App Who's Down

Design wise it is typically Google with its blue-white design scheme. Function wise, first you move the slider that indicates you are online or ‘down’ to meet people, then you type in an activity you would like to do or just select an option from the drop down list. Once you’ve voiced your intent, the app will wait for people to respond. The app will eventually notify you if a good number of people respond to your request. The chats that happen in this chat room will automatically get deleted after 24 hours.

Google App Who's Down
This seems like quite an intrinsically thought out app for Google. However, chat rooms and chatting apps aren’t concepts that are so new that nobody else can make it. So, until then, let’s just hope that Google’s pretty interface keeps us hooked.
